Upgrade to Apple OS X Mavericks – Free!

OS X MavericksOn October 22nd, Apple released its latest operating system (OS) Mavericks. Apple stated on its UK website:

We want all Mac users to experience the latest features, the most advanced technologies and the strongest security. And now they can. Because the newest version of OS X is free. It’s a simple download from the Mac App Store, so it couldn’t be easier to get. OS X Mavericks is another major leap forward for the Mac — and for everyone who uses it.

Its quite a large download (over 5GB) but when you consider it also includes updates for the iWork suite of programs (Pages, Numbers and Keynote) – again free – then I think it’s worth the bandwidth!

  1. One of the reasons for reducing the feature set of Pages, Numbers and Keynote is to allow collaboration between users on iPads, iMacs, Chromebooks and online through iCloud. The previous version of the suite should still be in a folder on your iMac should you prefer to use the earlier Apps.
