Discovering LiteratureThe British Library has published its new online resource Discovering Literature: Romantics and Victorians.

From Romantic poetry to Gothic horror, from depictions of poverty and industrialisation to portrayals of the middle classes, and from crime fiction to fin de siècle decadence: the literary works of the Romantic and Victorian periods, and the contexts in which they were written, offer a wealth of topics to explore. Also available are original manuscripts, first editions, illustrations, playbills and items such as an entry from Emily Brontë’s diary dated 26th June, 1837.

Teachers of English Literature can explore a range of teaching resources supporting GCSE and A Level set texts from the Romantic and Victorian eras, designed to help them get the most out of the website.
