Survey launched to gather views on anti-bullying guidance

National Digital Learning Awards 2013Welsh Government would like to know your views on the guidance and how they can better tailor it to your needs before 12th December 2014.

In 2011, Welsh Govenment published ‘Respecting others’, a suite of online guidance to help schools and local authorities tackle bullying.

The guidance covers five distinct areas of bullying:

  • homophobic bullying
  • cyberbullying
  • bullying around special educational needs and disabilities
  • sexist, sexual and transphobic bullying and
  • bullying on the grounds of race, religion and culture.

Evidence from a recent report by Estyn on how well schools in Wales are addressing bullying, suggested very few schools are aware of ‘Respecting others’ or have used it to raise staff awareness and provide training on bullying. Consequently, Estyn has recommended that Welsh Government should publicise the guidance.

Estyn’s findings are a real concern to WG, especially given the number of children and young people who report being bullied and calls on the WG to do more to help schools.

Please take a few minutes to complete the online survey.
