The ICT for School Leaders Event held to update School Leaders and Senior Leadership Teams from Swansea’s Primary Schools was held at the Richard Ley Development Centre (RLDC) on Friday, 30th January. Many of our schools were represented and were given presentations and breakout sessions related to ICT developments and opportunities provided by Swansea’s Portal, SIMS and ICT Curriculum Teams and resources provided to all schools in Wales through Welsh Government – Hwb and Hwb+, Office 365, j2e (Just2 Easy), 360 degree safe Cymru and Encyclopaedia Brittanica.
The overriding theme of the day was concerned with E-Safety and included sessions on the 360degree safe Cymru self evaluation tool and the Digital Literacy programme provided by Welsh Government. Other developments were the Edunet Messaging System, Online Payment Service and the completely redesigned school website provision.
Great interest was shown regarding the joint development by the SIMS and Portal Teams on the new wellbeing tool – ‘My Selfie’. Thanks should also be given to the headteachers and staff of the following primary schools for their invaluable contribution to the trialling of My Selfie: Penllergaer, Craigfelen, Llanrhidian, Pentre’r Graig, Penyrheol and Gowerton.
Thanks also to YCA, XMA Wales and Swansea’s Portal Team for sponsoring the event and contributing to the refreshments and car parking costs.
